About Katrina

Founder & Speech-Language Pathologist

Katrina is a speech-language pathologist and founder of Logos Speech Studio with many years of clinical experience working with children and adolescents. She earned her master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Indiana University. Her background spans pediatric outpatient care, early intervention, and elementary, middle, and high school settings, providing a broad foundation in communication development and the changing demands of learning and independence.

Her experience includes assessment and treatment across articulation and phonological disorders, receptive and expressive language, literacy and language-based learning needs, social communication, executive functioning, fluency, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and feeding. She has worked with individuals with a range of developmental disabilities and communication profiles, including autism and complex communication needs.

Katrina supports skills such as understanding and processing language, expressing and organizing ideas, developing vocabulary and sentence structure, reading comprehension, and participating in conversation. She has a particular clinical interest in treating articulation and phonological disorders to improve speech clarity and intelligibility.

Another area of clinical interest is executive functioning. She supports the development of planning, organization, attention, task initiation, and self-monitoring skills to promote greater independence in academic tasks and daily routines.

Her treatment approach integrates evidence-based practice, clinical assessment, and ongoing monitoring of progress. Intervention is tailored to each individual’s strengths, needs, interests, and goals. Therapy emphasizes practical application, with collaboration among families and educators to help skills generalize to daily routines, schoolwork, and social interactions.

Our services

Evaluations & Therapy

Understand your child’s needs, build practical skills, and carry progress into everyday life.

01 / Evaluations

Speech & Language Evaluations

Evaluations provide a comprehensive picture of your child’s speech, language, and communication skills. Based on presenting concerns and individual needs, assessment may examine articulation and speech sound production, receptive and expressive language, or both. Social communication and early literacy skills may also be assessed when relevant.

Caregiver input is an integral part of the evaluation, offering insight into communication across daily routines and settings. Following assessment, families receive a detailed summary of findings and individualized recommendations, including a plan for therapy or other supports when indicated.

02 / Direct individualized therapy

Individualized Therapy

Evidence-based intervention tailored to your child’s needs, strengths, and interests. Purposeful activities and family collaboration connect each goal to everyday life.

Speech & language

Articulation & motor speech

Clearer, more accurate speech. Support for articulation errors, phonological patterns, and motor-based challenges, with practice that builds overall intelligibility.

Language therapy

Understanding and expressing ideas. Support for vocabulary, sentence structure, following directions, processing language, and organized storytelling.

Fluency

Comfortable, confident communication. Individualized support for children who stutter, including speaking-related tension, participation, and caregiver strategies.

Connection & independence

AAC & functional communication

More ways to express needs and ideas. Gestures, pictures, core boards, and speech-generating devices—including experience with LAMP Words for Life—support requesting, commenting, refusing, and connecting.

Pragmatics & social communication

Meaningful interaction and relationships. Support for social cues, perspective-taking, conversation, and communicating needs while respecting each child’s style.

Executive functioning

Skills for daily routines and learning at every age. Support for attention, organization, planning, homework completion, transitions, and self-monitoring.

Feeding & mealtime participation

Feeding therapy & food chaining

Support for oral motor coordination, sensory routines, and expanding food variety. Food chaining starts with familiar foods and introduces gradual changes, paired with practical caregiver guidance.

03 / Enrichment groups

Enrichment Groups

Playful enrichment concepts that connect language with hands-on experiences. Group offerings and schedules vary.

Ages 2–6

Chef's Club

A hands-on enrichment experience where young children explore language through food and playful kitchen activities. Naming ingredients, describing what they notice, following simple steps, and taking turns create opportunities for communication. Children also practice table etiquette, including asking for items politely, waiting for a turn, and participating in mealtime conversation.

The emphasis is on exploration and participation. Chef’s Club is enrichment; individualized food chaining and feeding support are separate services.

Grades 1–3

Booked for Adventure

A reading enrichment experience designed to build a love of reading and excitement about books. Stories become opportunities to think, talk, and create. Children explore vocabulary, make predictions, discuss characters, and retell important events through conversation and imaginative activities.

Books and tasks can be adapted to the group’s interests and reading levels, with opportunities to share ideas and listen to others.

Social communication

Social Skills Group

A small-group enrichment experience focused on building friendships and practicing social communication. Through shared games, conversation, and collaborative activities, participants explore different perspectives, practice conversational rules such as turn-taking and staying on topic, and learn ways to join in and maintain interactions.

Activities support respectful communication and meaningful connections while recognizing individual communication styles.

A few helpful answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Is enrichment the same as speech therapy?

Enrichment groups provide opportunities to explore language and learning together. Individual speech-language therapy addresses a child's specific needs and goals.

How are sessions planned?

We begin with the concerns that matter to your family and the skills your child already brings. Activities are selected around individual goals, interests, and participation needs. Sessions may combine direct practice, play, books, visual supports, and movement, with adjustments based on how your child engages.

Can we practice at home?

Yes. Katrina often provides weekly practice tasks tailored to each client’s goals. Families receive practical activities and strategies to reinforce skills between sessions and support carryover into everyday routines.

Is executive function support only for older students?

No. Younger children use these skills to follow routines, transition, wait, and complete simple activities. Older children and teens use them for more complex planning, organization, and independent work. Support is matched to developmental needs and everyday challenges.

What if my child is not speaking yet?

Speech and language development varies, and many factors can influence when and how a child begins to communicate. If your child is not yet speaking or you have concerns, an evaluation is a proactive step toward understanding their strengths and needs and determining whether support is recommended.

Communication can include gestures, pointing, pictures, vocalizations, and AAC. Therapy can build on these forms of communication while supporting speech and language development.
